The Rotary Club of Freeport Zone (Subic Bay), District 3790, Philippines was founded in the spirit of the true ideals and the Object of Rotary—of truth and fairness, selfless service, and faithful friendship and fellowship…It was this vision of a new Rotary club - with a deeper commitment and conviction to the principles of Rotary- that inspired Raul Peralta, then outgoing centennial president (RY 2004-05) of the Rotary Club  of Subic Bay to go about the arduous task of Rotary extension.

As he envisioned, the new club would be situated in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, where the sun meets the sea, and the bay opens up to the ocean. Like the Freeport Zone, the new club would open up to new horizons and reach out to the world. Like the port, the club would carry enormous loads to fulfill its commitment to Rotary’s motto “Service Above Self”. Like the ships, it would transport and carry out Rotary’s mission to promote universal goodwill and understanding.

The Rotary Club of Freeport Zone (Subic Bay) or RCFZ was chartered by Rotary International on 20 September 2006 during the term of DG Bishop Florentino Cinense.

Profile:

On its first year the club already had numerous awards including the Most Outstanding New Club award.

During RY2007-08, only over a year after it was chartered, RC Freeport Zone (RCFZ) was already among the top ten clubs in the district with numerous awards and became the highest contributor to TRF in the entire District 3790.

The club now has 17 Paul Harris Fellows, including two multiple PHFs. On its third year RCFZ garnered more than 20 district awards including the Outstanding Club and Outstanding President awards.

RCFZ also hosted with flying colors the 3-day Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA 2007-08), held for 3 days October 2007 and again in 2010. On its fourth year RCFZ successfully hosted the DISTAS with more than 700 participants.

The members of RCFZ, led by CP Raul Peralta, have attended the R.I. Conventions in Osaka, Chicago, Birmingham, Montreal and Bangkok as well as several Zone Institutes, including those in Bangkok, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, and Bali. The club also consistently achieved its commitment to service with year-round programs: twice-a-week feeding of malnourished schoolchildren, twice-a-week RCC skills training, and once-a-week literacy program, among other numerous projects. At its young age, RCFZ also organized its partners-in-service: RCC, Rotaract, and Interact clubs. RCFZ is the recipient of the highest District award for RCC.

The club has sisterhood/brotherhood agreements with different clubs in District 3790, as well as with the Rotary Club of Hermosa Beach, California, U.S.A.

At present, RCFZ has 26 active members, over half of which are female, and with an average age of about 42. Club meetings are held at the Rali’s Grill, Malawaan Park, Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ).
